Kirk Cameron Still Endures Growing Pains

23 09 2009

Here’s an odious little development from the always-entertaining Kirk Cameron, who is arguably more humorous now (if unintentionally so) than he ever was as a cast member in the delightful and insightful Growing Pains. Apparently, as he’s grown into adulthood, he’s still feeling those growing pains, never having developed a mature sense of logic or reason.

You might remember that, a few years ago, Cameron claimed to have lived his early years as an atheist but saw the light around age 18, when he became a Christian fundamentalist. Somewhere along the befuddled trajectory of his new calling, he recorded an amazingly naive video with fellow evangelist Ray Comfort, in which they “proved” the existence of God “scientifically.” The video was dubbed The Atheist’s Nightmare. Let’s enjoy it, shall we?

All right, all right. Please refrain from giggling at the video’s rampant homoeroticism. Let’s try to focus on the content.

Well, suffice it to say, the content of the video was debunked from all corners. A perfectly fine example can be found here:

We don’t need to go into detail about Cameron’s embarrassing early forays into evolution-debunking, but now he’s back in the spotlight, having devised a plan to subvert Darwin’s seminal Origin of Species by releasing a 150th anniversary abridged edition of the book (which is in the public domain), complete with a “special introduction” penned by Comfort. You can view this sad, eye-opening introduction here.

Kirk kindly recorded a helpful—and, again, unintentionally hilarious—video to introduce this travesty. In the following video, he lays out his plan to subvert Darwin Day on November 22, 2009. Kirk says that he plans to deliver 50,000 copies of the altered version of Darwin’s book to students at dozens of US universities. He explains that this “very special” edition of Origin of Species will include an introduction explaining “Adolf Hitler’s undeniable connection” to the theory of evolution and highlighting “Darwin’s racism” and “his disdain for women.” Cameron’s edition also exposes the “many hoaxes” of evolutionary theory, while presenting a “balanced view of Creationism.”

Here’s Kirk’s original video:

Got all that? Okay, now watch this video. This chick just makes me happy:

That banana piece is hilarious! I always open my bananas on the other side (amazingly it peels from that side too!) and use the so called “Tab” as a handle to hold the banana. I’ve always peeled my bananas that way and think it’s plain wrong to do it the other way!
